This is folio 45 from an album of inscribed paintings recounting the adventures of young Krishna, as told in the 10th chapter of the Bhagavata Purana.

Made in the late 18th century in Nepal, the album, which likely contained as many as 100 folios was probably commissioned by one of the early kings of Shah dynasty of Nepal. Now dispersed, folios from this album can be found in many collections, including the
the Metropolitan Museum which has several folios. Other folios have been sold from time to time in the major auction houses, Sothebys, Christies and Bonhams
